The ingredient list for apricot salmon is as simple as it gets. Here’s what you’ll need:
Salmon: This recipe uses six pieces of salmon that are around 3.5 ounces each. Salmon is an incredible high-protein source that also boasts EPA and DHA omega-3s that are good for your brain.
Apricot jam: You’ll need one 10-ounce jar of apricot jam for this apricot salmon recipe, which you should be able to find at most grocery stores. It’s literally the secret sauce that makes this recipe so delicious!
You can make this dish even more nutritious by serving it with some veggies or a side salad.
Start by preheating the oven to 450° Fahrenheit.
Next, spray a nonstick sheet pan with spray oil. Place the salmon pieces on the pan, and top salmon with jam—about 2 ½ Tablespoons per piece.
Roast the salmon for 12 minutes. Turn the oven to broil and broil for an additional 5 minutes until the jam begins to caramelize.
Salmon tastes great with a variety of flavors: sweet, salty, spicy, sour…the possibilities are endless. It’s commonly paired with savory spices, seasonings, and sauces.
In this recipe, the salmon is paired with apricot jam which has a flavor that’s more on the sweet side. Salmon is also delicious when served with cooked vegetables and/or grains.
You can pair just about any spice with salmon—it has a versatile flavor that complements them perfectly.
Some common spices that are often used with salmon include parsley, dill, basil, sage, thyme, cilantro, fennel, garlic, rosemary, tarragon, and parsley.
If you have leftovers, keep the salmon in an airtight container. You can keep it in the refrigerator for up to three days. I do not recommend storing the salmon in the freezer.
There are so many different types of sauces that you can serve with salmon! Many people like it with creamy sauces, such as lemon garlic butter sauce.
You can also try it with honey mustard sauce, white wine sauce, miso glaze, sweet and sour sauce, or soy sauce. Additionally, you can pair salmon with salsas or even jam like what I did in this recipe.
