My Bridal Skin Care Routine at Home

When it comes to the best bridal skin care routine at home, you’ll want to know about this super easy pre-wedding skin regimen.

A bunch of skin care items that are sitting on a pink table

These last couple of months have been an emotional rollercoaster. How can life be heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time?

As many of you know, I’ve been engaged and planning my wedding for well over a year now.

Thanks to the folks at NOW® for sponsoring this post! All opinions are my own, as always.

My fiancé and I were planning the destination wedding of our dreams in Scotland, for August 19.

A few weeks ago, we officially, indefinitely postponed our plans because of the coronavirus pandemic. This is the post I shared on Instagram when we made the hard decision.

But love has a way of shining through, right?

Lawrence and I are taking perhaps the most romantic step of all. We’re getting married earlier than planned. At our own home. With our friends and family tuning in virtually to the ceremony, and our two cats as best men.

I’ll update you more on our virtual wedding plans very soon (if you’re really itching for news, read about my virtual bridal shower). But for now I want to talk about self care and my bridal skin care routine at home.

Bridal self care

Even though the world is in pain and turmoil right now and we literally don’t know what tomorrow will bring, we must take care of ourselves and even indulge in bubble baths and at-home spa treatments once in awhile.

This has become clearer to me than ever during this difficult time. I would be a depressed, hot mess right now if not for my self-care routine.

A lot of brides-to-be wonder about how to get their skin ready for the big day and also for those pre-wedding photos. It’s actually not the most difficult ask once you know what products to use and you establish a daily routine.

So without further ado, let’s chat about the step-by-step skin-care routine that will not only help brides to be (like me!) get ready for their wedding days but will also help you feel your best.

FYI that this advice is also helpful for anyone looking for clearer skin, including any health hero friends working the front lines.

My bridal skin care routine

I have super sensitive skin. I can’t tell you how much money I’ve spent in my life on premium skincare products that I had to give to friends and family because they made my skin burn.

Oh, and there was the time I was on vacation in Bermuda with my fiancé and I treated myself to a facial. And my skin became so red and burned for days.

For awhile, I’d really given up hope that I could find a full set of products to use on a regular basis that would help my skin feel better, not worse.

So of course I was so excited to find skincare products I can actually use, that help my skin looks its best—and that don’t cost a fortune.

I’ve been working with NOW for a couple of years now, and I’ve always been a fan of the brand’s products. Now I’m a total believer in the skincare line, NOW® Solutions, too.

I’m going to outline the products I use for my bridal skincare routine. If you’d like, you can start small with just a few of the items.

I just did a DIY bridal facial this morning, and my skin is so soft and clear right now. I’m excited to tell you more about my bridal skin care routine at home. Oh, and not one of these items costs more than $25.

Products for an at-home bridal facial

Here are the items I’ve been using to get my skin ready for my wedding day. In my opinion, they’re the best products for a bridal skin care routine at home!

Note that even though I have sensitive skin, these items should work for you regardless of your skin type—from dry skin to oily skin and acne prone skin, too.

NOW® Solutions Charcoal Detox Gel Cleanser

I keep this oil free face wash in my shower. If you’ve never tried a face wash with activated charcoal, try it now.

The charcoal does a great job of grabbing unwanted oil, dirt, and impurities from the surface of your skin. And it’s a great gentle cleanser for removing makeup. It also contains acai and goji berry for the antioxidant benefits!

NOW® Solutions Charcoal Detox Face Mask

This mask might just be my favorite product that I’m talking about today. In my opinion, it’s way better than sheet masks. And it’s super affordable, with a price point under $10.

As with the gel cleanser, the mask uses activated charcoal to help grab impurities from under the skin.

When the mask is dry, I like to use a moistened natural sponge to remove it. I find that this provides further exfoliation. Like the charcoal face wash, the mask also contains acai and goji berries.

NOW® Solutions Balance Facial Oil

Have you ever heard of facial oil? It’s just like it sounds. Hydrating your face with gentle oil makes sense if you think about it—since you remove oil when you clean your face.

I typically use this oil at night, after I wash my face and before I put on my evening moisturizer.

NOW® Solutions Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizer

I have combination skin, and I feel like I’ve been trying my whole life to find a gentle moisturizer that also has benefits for aging skin. This moisturizer targets aging skin to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

I use it in the morning, under my sunscreen and make-up. It’s super great for a bridal skin care routine at home.

Just a note that when I know I’m going outside, I make sure to wear sun protection of at least SPF 30 to help protect from UV rays. When I’m going to be out for hours, I wear a stronger one with zinc oxide.

NOW® Solutions 2 in 1 Correcting Eye Cream

I don’t know why it’s been so hard for me to find an eye cream that hydrates and doesn’t irritate my skin or eyes, but it has.

I was so glad when I found this eye cream, which helps smooth out the appearance of fine lines. The eye cream is particularly helpful for dry skin like mine.

How often to do a DIY bridalfFacial

Ask 10 people about how to embrace a simple bridal skin care routine at home, and you might get 10 different answers.

Here’s my opinion. It takes just a few minutes every morning and evening to clean and moisturize your skin. So make that part of your daily routine.

As for exfoliating, it’s a little messy so I find it works best in the shower. When I put on a mask, I let it dry and then jump in the shower to rinse it off.

I use an exfoliant once or twice a week and a mask about once a week. It really doesn’t take very long to keep your skin feeling its best!

Your body does a great job of repairing itself while you sleep, so it’s great to moisturize before bedtime so your skin can drink up all that skin food while you score some zzzs!

The bottom line

When it comes to a bridal skin care routine at home, finding products that work well with your skin type is the most important thing! Make sure to try the products weeks or months before your wedding so that you can make sure you don’t react to any of them.
