Vegan Sausage Gravy
Here’s a vegan sausage gravy that’s quick, easy to prepare, and totally plant based. Pair it with vegan sausage patties or almost any dish!
- 1¼ cup unsweetened oat milk, or almond milk gluten free, if necessary
- 2 tbsp corn starch
- 1 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
- ¼ cup onion, diced
- 4 vegan sausages cut into rectangles; gluten free, if necessary
- 1 cup low-sodium vegetable broth
- 2 tbsp vegan butter
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- Scallions, diced, for garnish
- Parsley, for garnish
Mix ¼ cup of oat milk with the corn starch, until it dissolves.
Heat a non-stick skillet to medium and add the olive oil. Add onion and cook until translucent, about 7minutes.
Add the vegan sausages and break them with a wooden spoon. Cook them until they are crumbled and crispy, around 10 minutes.
Add in vegetable broth, the rest of the oat milk. Add salt and pepper and cook for a few minutes, until mixture is bubbly.
Add the oat-milk-and-cornstarch mixture, and cook for a couple more minutes or until the sauce thickens.
